A scar is a mark left in the skin by the healing of a wound, burnt or surgical incision in which the normal functional tissue (skin) is lost. This can be caused by trauma to the skin - chicken pox, burns, surgery, accidents or acne. Severe forms of acne, usually leads to permanent scars that are often the cause of severe discomfort and loss of self-esteem.

Atrophic scars are flat or slightly depressed. Scars replaced by connective tissue are known as Keloids. Keloids are raised overgrowths of scar tissue that occur at the site of a skin injury. They occur where trauma, surgery, blisters, vaccinations, acne or body piercing have injured the skin. Some people are prone to keloid formation and may develop them in several places. The keloid scar tissue continues to grow for a time after the original wound has closed, becoming larger and more visible until it reaches a final size.

The Science

The Treatment

The procedure is performed by passing a hand held device that uses a highly controlled flow of fine, medical grade crystals over the skin. You should feel no more than a sharp scratching sensation. After which the Laser technology is applied.

After the treatment, the surface treated may have some spots of blood, and these may scab and take about a week to heal. Inflammation (active redness) is a consequence of fibroblast collagen resulting in more elastic skin. The depth of the pressure applied is at the professional’s discretion and may vary from treatment to treatment. The advantage of this treatment is that above all it works in harmony with, and respects the biological structure of the skin tissue.

Epidermis renewal usually occurs within four and five days depending on the length of the treatment or depth of abrasion, leaving a space of about five to six days between treatments.
