the Laser Treatment Clinic | Active Acne
Acne is described as a disease that affects the sebaceous follicles and hair follicles of the skin. Acne typically begins during adolescence, when hormonal changes cause the enlargement and obstruction of sebaceous glands by bacteria in the skin, causing acne. These multiply deep in the hair follicle and produce inflamed pus-filled spots.
This typically causes inflamed pustules of acne to cyst, which can appear on the face, chest, back, limbs and virtually any other parts of the body.
Post-adolescent acne is on the rise. We are now seeing that acne can persist into the late twenties and thirties or even beyond. Some people are now getting acne for the first time as adults.
Active Acne
Active Acne should be treated early and adequately. Active Acne is more likely to go on to a scar if it has been left untreated or inadequately treated. Laser acne treatment is now an extremely popular choice for those who want to rid themselves of scars and enjoy refreshed skin and renewed confidence.
The Science
The LTC™ Advanced Intense Pulsed Light technology produces a light that eliminates the acne bacteria that cause the infection leading to spots. It also gently heats up the skin around the spots, producing collagen that boost the healing process and stimulates the natural mechanism repair of the skin. The most common areas for treatment are the face, neck, back and chest.
The treatment itself is very fast, about 20 minutes for a full facial treatment, and is totally safe leaving no signs on the skin surface. This is because the light works on the lower surface or Dermis section of the skin where collagen production occurs.
The Treatment
A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated. After which the sapphire crystal waveguide is gently applied to the skin and pulses of light are applied.
You should feel no more than the sharp snap of a rubber band against the skin. The treatment is extremely fast and an area of the face such as the cheeks may take less than 5 minutes to treat whilst the full face may take just 20 minutes.
After the treatment slight redness of the skin may be visible. Because this treatment does not damage the outer layers of the skin, there is no healing time and normal activities can be resumed immediately.
With repeated treatments you will notice a steady improvement in skin texture and appearance. Improvement is sometimes evident from the first couple of treatments and continues throughout the treatment program.
The treatment is tailored to your individual needs and approved by our medical expert.
