Believe it or not, it is possible to get rid of post-pregnancy stretch marks

For many women, stretch marks are an inevitable side effect of pregnancy.

When you are pregnant, you gain in body weight in a relatively short period of time. This stretches the skin and causes the small connective fibres in the middle layer of skin, the dermis, to break. The result of this is often stretch marks.

Stretch marks do fade over time, but for many women, they don’t completely disappear. There are many different creams and other products designed to fade stretch marks and improve the appearance of the skin after pregnancy, but these have quite a low level of effectiveness. You may need to use them for a long period of time to see any discernible difference.

Much faster and far more effective treatment for women with post-pregnancy stretch marks is laser treatment. This works in three stages:

1. Microdermabrasion is used to deeply exfoliate the skin and encourage skin renewal
2. Laser treatment is employed to stimulate collagen growth and the production of fresh young skin cells
3. Ultrasound therapy is used in a similar way to laser therapy, but it also removes dead skin cells

At the end of a course of treatment using these methods, stretch marks should be nearly completely removed.
