Causes and treatments for skin pigmentation

Age spots and skin pigmentation are common conditions which can affect many people.

Some people’s skin starts to show signs of aging in their twenties. Lack of ascorbic acid is a common factor in causing the skin to age. This eventually results in low cellular production of collagen and elastin, which causes the skin to get dehydrated.

Constant exposure to sun makes our body secrete melanin in order to protect the skin from the harmful UV rays. However, the secretion of excessive melanin can result in skin pigmentation- including freckles and age spots. In younger people, these tend to fade after a few weeks. However, the problem persists and tends to become permanent in older people.

Reduced oxygen to the skin tissues is also a cause of skin pigmentation and age spots. The top layer of the skin thins due to reduced amounts of oxygen.

Dark pigmentation can also occur due to liver diseases.

However, modern skin pigmentation treatment, such as laser treatment, can effectively treat the problem and prevent it from reoccurring. Laser skin pigmentation treatment is extremely cost-efficient and relatively painless, making it a great solution for skin pigmentation and age spots.
