Safe pigmentation treatment for black skin

Black skin can be vulnerable to hyper pigmentation following injury or inflammation. Even relatively small lesions, such as those caused by spots or scratches can result in much darker areas of skin on the site of the injury that can be noticeable in contrast with the surrounding skin.

These marks tend to take a long time to fade, if they do at all, partly because exposure to sunlight simply makes them even darker. Laser treatment was initially unsuitable for black skin, but advances in technology and in the understanding of its effects on black skin have produced treatments that are safe and yield successful results.

Intense Pulsed Light is an effective form of pigmentation treatment that causes the excess pigmentation to break down into particles that the body is able to remove itself, causing the darker areas of skin to fade and even out the skin tone.

Another form of treatment involves deeply exfoliating the skin using a stream of ultra-fine medical-grade crystals. As well as removing damaged layers of skin, microdermabrasion also encourages the skin to heal and renew itself. The laser treatment is applied afterwards, thus stimulating the production of new skin cells and collagen for a healthy and even complexion.
