Birthmarks, as the name implies, are patches of discolored skin present from the day you are born or soon thereafter.
Brown or dark marks, such as café au lait spots, are caused by abnormal patches of pigment. Red, purple or pink marks, such as strawberry marks or port wine stains, are caused by an abnormal distribution of blood vessels. This type of birthmark is also known as haemangioma.
The Science
The LTC™ Advanced Intense Pulsed Light technology produces a light that eliminates the birthmark without damaging the surrounding tissue. A sapphire crystal waveguide conducts the filtered light to the target chromophores in the tissues causing the unwanted skin lesions to heat up and disintegrate/disappear.
The Treatment
A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated. After which the sapphire crystal waveguide is gently applied to the skin and pulses of light are applied.
The treatment is extremely fast and an area the size of 2inch by 2inch may take only 10 seconds.
After the treatment the birthmark may initially look a little darker, and may blister and start to peel or fade in the next couple of weeks.
