What to Expect from an Acne Scar Consultation?

Posted on 16 Dec, 2015

Acne scars develop in the dermis where former cystic blemish lesions have been present. Those with darker skin tones may also notice darkening (or hyperpigmentation) within the scars, while people with lighter skin tones may show redness (or erythema) within them.

For some people, acne scars can fuel anxiety, self-esteem and quality of life may also suffer; but there are now effective treatments available to treat acne scars. If you are looking to proceed with an acne scarring treatment, then read on to find out more information on what to expect when booking with The Laser Treatment Clinic.

The Consultation

Our Skin Consultants are friendly and sympathetic and will provide helpful, detailed information on the acne scar laser treatment during the consultation.

They will answer any questions you may have and will recommend a course of treatment suited to your individual requirements. Whatever your circumstances, we can provide the expertise, technique, products and facilities for your treatment.

The Treatment

When you come to see us for your first treatment, the Laser Practitioner will fully explain the procedure to you and ensure you are comfortable before proceeding with the treatment. This treatment works in harmony with the skin and it respects the biological structure of the skin tissue, offering a safe alternative to harsh chemical peels and strong surgical treatments.

The Laser Treatment Clinic offers industry-leading treatment for acne scar concerns with Marine Boost Treatment, consisting of a combination of advanced peel, medical microdermabrasion treatment with Marine Boost Skincare. The sophisticated technology involves an advanced form of skin exfoliation, which encourages skin rejuvenation, over the acne-scarred skin, to remove the effected superficial layers from the epidermis level to reveal the new skin beneath. You should feel no more than a sharp scratching sensation.

This process accelerates the microcirculation process, which helps to raise the active metabolism of the skin cells. This helps the skin to rejuvenate faster, as it works to stimulate fresh young skin cells to promote new collagen growth, and the collagen remodels for a smoother, firmer more even skin texture.

After-Care

After the treatment, the area may have redness and erythema, and this can take up to a week to heal. Inflammation (active redness) is a consequence of fibro collagen resulting in improved elasticity to the skin. Your treatment will finish with an application of the Marine Boost Skincare, we highly recommend this is used during and after the treatments are completed to achieve, and maintain optimum results.

Whilst it is very rare, you may experience reactions including temporary pigmentation or other similar reactions during the course of your treatment and for some time afterwards. With repeated treatments, you will notice a steady improvement in the skin’s appearance, the frequency of these treatments is every 2 to 4 weeks.

In most cases, Marine Boost Treatment is very effective and can achieve a dramatic smoothing of the acne-scarred skin within the first few treatments. We have found that on average, most people require between 6 and 12 treatments for optimum results, however, these are individual to each case as everyone responds differently.
