How Burn Scars Can Be Treated

Posted on 02 Dec, 2021

Scalding and burning of the skin can cause permanent damage and severe burns. Such as second-degree and third-degree burns, which will leave permanent scars. When a scar occurs as a result of a burn, many people will seek a treatment in order to minimise the appearance of their scar and to reduce pain or irritation this causes. At The Laser Treatment Clinic, we are well-versed in the treatment of scars, having years of experience in treating the appearance of a variety of scars. We work with our clients to achieve rejuvenated skin and to improve their self-confidence.

Treating a scar with laser therapy

Lasers have seen become a popular treatment method for reducing the appearance of scars. At our Harley Street Clinic, we are able to offer several treatments for scars. This is thanks to the number of advancements in laser technology. These treatments work to achieve a reduction in the visible appearance of a scar, flattening raised scars, reducing any pain or irritation from the scar, and allowing mobility in areas where a scar may have limited movement.

Advanced Microneedling with RF (Radio Frequency)

Remodel your face and body. Our popular fractional skin treatment stimulates collagen and elastin production of the underlying layers of the dermis. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, tissues of the face and body can be remodelled to reveal more healthy smooth radiant youthful appearance.

The treatment can be used on any areas that can benefit from resurfacing and subdermal renewal. The most commonly treated areas include the face, periorbital area, shoulders, back, abdomen, thighs, legs and buttocks.

Other treatments include:

Advanced Dermabrasion – Gently exfoliates the upper layers of skin, resurfacing the area of damaged skin and rejuvenating and smoothing the skin’s appearance.

Collagen Induction Therapy – This treatment stimulates the body’s natural collagen producing ability. By inducing the collagen production to this area of the skin, the scar will be treated from below the surface of the skin. This will result in a dramatic improvement to the skin’s appearance. Helping to restore a supple look to the skin.

Intense Pulsed Light Treatment (IPL) – IPL is great for targeting the redness of scars, minimising their appearance.

Derma White Treatment – This treatment is great for smoothing the skin and targeting the pigmentation of scars minimising their appearance.

Along with our laser treatments, our friendly team of skin experts will also offer a follow up care routine, including a range of products from the Zaheda Skincare range.

Preventing a burn scar

When a burn first occurs, it is possible to prevent a scar from forming but acting quickly to reduce the damage the burn causes to your skin. In order to prevent a burn from scarring you should:

  • rinse the burn with cool or lukewarm water, do not dry the skin, let this dry in the air
  • Apply an antibiotic ointment
  • cover the burn with a loose, non-stick bandage
  • If your burn is worsening in appearance after following these steps, you should seek medical advice
