The Derma White treatment is an exclusive skin care treatment that we offer here at The Laser Treatment Clinic. This treatment is a natural alternative to traditional chemical peels, as it contains a mixture of vitamins, enzymes and minerals that work together to help treat a variety of skin concerns. This treatment is excellent for all skin types and skin tones, and especially for those with sensitive skin or Black and Asian and Arab skin.

In this blog post we will be exploring how the Derma White treatment works and why it’s a great treatment choice for those with darker skin tones.

How does the Derma White treatment work?

The Derma White treatment is a herbal peel that works by stimulating blood circulation and collagen production, resulting in brighter and clearer skin. This treatment is especially effective in treating hyperpigmentation in darker skin tones. The Derma White peel effectively helps brighten darker patches of skin, resulting in a more even skin tone.

This treatment is painless and quick, and excellent for those with sensitive skin too. This is due to its natural ingredients and painless application.

Which skin concerns can the Derma White treatment help?

Hyperpigmentation, which is common in Black and Asian skin tones, is what the Derma White treatment primarily is used for. This is because the ingredients in this natural peel work to brighten and tighten the skin, which results in the desired outcome.

This treatment is also effective for those with sensitive skin, and also for those with dull skin who wish for a brighter and radiant complexion. This is because the Derma White treatment effectively stimulates collagen, which results in skin renewal. This brightens, tightens, and provides your skin with a more youthful appearance, treating concerns such as dull skin and hyperpigmentation.

Why you should choose the Derma White Treatment

Below are the main advantages that this exclusive natural peel treatment offers.

Non-invasive: Unlike other treatments for hyperpigmentation, the Derma White treatment is a non-invasive option. The peel is simply massaged into your skin, which means no recovery time like other treatments.

Effective: The Derma White treatment can be an effective treatment for hyperpigmentation and other skin concerns. The stimulating collagen is a very effective method at brightening the skin.

Painless: As this treatment is applied to the surface of the skin, it is minimal pain or discomfort compared to more invasive methods.

Natural: The natural ingredients make this treatment an attractive choice for those with sensitive skin especially.

Here at The Laser Treatment Clinic, we specialise in providing expert skin treatments to Black, Asian and Arab skin tones. We offer a variety of treatments, both laser and non-laser to treat a wide range of common skin concerns, one of which is hyperpigmentation.

If you have hyperpigmentation and wish to find an effective solution, this blog post is for you.

What is hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation occurs when excess melanin, the pigment that gives the skin its colour, is overproduced, resulting in dark patches of skin. This can happen for various reasons, including: sun exposure, inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, changes in hormones, and some medications. Hyperpigmentation can often cause aesthetic concern and impact the individual’s self-confidence.

This skin condition primarily affects those with dark skin tones, as there are already higher levels of melanin in the skin. This means that those with Black, Asian and Arab skin tones are more susceptible to developing hyperpigmentation spots, especially when the individual has an inflammatory skin condition such as eczema, or fluctuating hormones.

Laser treatment as an effective solution

Laser treatment is the most effective and sophisticated method in reducing hyperpigmentation in Black, Asian and Arab skin. Laser therapy works by targeting melanin deposits that cause hyperpigmentation, without affecting the surrounding skin. Below are some of the following reasons as to why laser therapy is a fantastic solution for hyperpigmentation.

Precision

Advanced laser technologies that we use here at The Laser Treatment Clinic are incredibly precise, allowing our team to target hyperpigmented areas with high accuracy. This precision is crucial for protecting the healthy, surrounding skin, which is essential for those with darker skin tones that are prone to further pigmentation issues if the skin gets irritated or damaged.

Minimal downtime

Laser treatment has a surprisingly quick recovery time, around two weeks for most. This however, depends on the individual. Many people who receive laser treatment find they can return to their regular activities soon after treatment, making it a convenient option for many.

Long-lasting results

Laser treatment can deliver effective, and long-lasting results for those struggling with hyperpigmentation. By targeting and eliminating the pigment, laser treatment can result in a more even skin tone.

For more information about how our laser treatments can treat hyperpigmentation, and other treatments we offer for hyperpigmentation do not hesitate to contact our team today. We can answer any questions you may have.

Here at the Laser Treatment Clinic, we use Derma White Treatment to treat several skin concerns, from pigmentation and acne, to scarring and sun damage. The aim of Derma White Treatment is to provide clearer, brighter, and lighter skin, allowing the areas of damage on the skin to be naturally treated by this sensitive and gentle treatment method.

What does Derma White Treatment Consist of?

Your initial consultation with one of our friendly team members will inform you of the process of Derma White Treatment and the consultant will take a thorough analysis of your skin to determine your skin goals. At The Laser Treatment Clinic, we understand everybody has different skin concerns and desires for how they wish to achieve rejuvenated skin. We will work closely with you, keeping you informed at every stage of the journey.

The procedure – Using a mixture of natural marine and botanical skin care products, the skin will be prepped for treatment. You should feel no more than a prickly feeling, as the herbal peeling mixture is massaged into your skin. Blood circulation is increased, as a result, the supply of oxygen and nutrition is improved, and skin renewal is stimulated.

A Natural Procedure

The use of skin-friendly, gentle herbs mixed to generate the perfect combination of enzymes, minerals, and vitamins for skin regeneration is natural and safe with none or minimal down time in most cases. This choice of treatment is not as harsh as other options such as chemical skin peels. What’s also great about this treatment option is that it encourages the natural renewal of the skin.

Although you may notice skin peeling as a result of Derma White Treatment, this is not a bad sign. This is an indication your skin is reacting to the treatment process and nothing to be concerned about. We will provide you with an at home post-treatment skin routine to ensure the skin is well looked after. Sometimes the skin may look worse temporarily whilst you are going through the healing process before it looks better. But as you go through your course of treatments and the skin goes through the rejuvenating process the skin will start to appear more healthy and clear.

Designed exclusively at the Laser Treatment clinic, our Derma White treatment will work in conjunction with the skin’s natural processes. You may begin to see some results instantly, with your skin appearing brighter and glowing. The products used work to stimulate skin renewal and, as a result promotes collagen growth. With this you will notice your skin will appear healthy, youthful, and glowing as you complete your course of treatments.

Acne & Hyperpigmentation

For deeper skin issues, such as Acne and hyperpigmentation, we would recommend repeated treatments every four weeks. Between 3-6 treatments will generate the maximum results. Everybody will have a different experience, depending upon your skin type and skin concern. Your consultant will discuss with you a treatment plan that will generate the greatest benefits for your individual circumstances.

Caused by the production of excess melanin, hyperpigmentation is an incredibly common skin condition that can affect individuals with and skin type or tone. However, those with Asian or Black African skin types experience this skin concern far more frequently than those with lighter skin tones, due to the fact that they naturally have more melanin in their skin to begin with. What this means is that any hyperpigmentation or scarring becomes far more visible, greatly affecting a person’s confidence and even leaving a mark on their mental health if the hyperpigmentation is severe enough.

Common Causes of Hyperpigmentation

Treating hyperpigmentation on any skin tone start with understanding what caused it to begin with. Like many skin conditions, there are a number of different triggers for hyperpigmentation including, trauma to the skin, UV exposure, genetics, and hormones. In darker skin tone, acne is particularly well-known for causing hyperpigmentation as the scarring it causes is often accompanied by post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

Of course, acne is not the only cause of PIH. Asian and black African skin types are prone to PIH from any number of inflammatory conditions that affect the skin. These can include eczema, irritation, and ingrown hairs alongside acne as we have already mentioned. Other damage to the skin such as sun damage, self-harm scars, fungal infections, stretch marks, and even the use of harsh skincare products can trigger PIH too.

The reason why darker skin tones are so easily affected by PIH is that because as the body heals the injury, the skin in the affected area becomes darker in colour as the healing response triggers melanin production too.

What happens on darker skin tones is that often once the original condition has healed, as part of the body’s natural healing process the skin becomes darker in colour in the affected area, caused by an overproduction of melanin.

How We Treat Hyperpigmentation

The skin experts here at The Laser Treatment Clinic have decades of experience in using a number of different techniques to treat hyperpigmentation on Asian and black African skin tones. Because darker skin tones require an added level of care in order to not cause any further hyperpigmentation, it is important that you choose a clinic like ours that will have the expert knowledge required.

Hyperpigmentation is a common skin concern, affect millions of people around the globe. No matter what your age, gender or skin tone is, hyperpigmentation can affect you as it has a range of different causes. Thankfully, this issue is now commonly treated in skin clinics, no matter what type of pigmentation you suffer from or where this is located. With modern techniques, experienced professionals can help you achieve brilliant results.

Of course, with all the time and effort that goes into improving hyperpigmentation with in-clinic treatments, you’ll no doubt want to do everything you can to maintain those results long after you have completed your treatment plan.

The answer? Skin-lightening creams in combination with hyperpigmentation treatments. When used correctly, skin-lightening creams can improve pigmentation issues and help you maintain the results of any professional hyperpigmentation treatments.

Using Skin-Lightening Creams at Home

Do not be put off by the negative reputation of skincare products with lightening ingredients. While it is true that in the past skin lightening creams used to be formulated with harsh chemicals and dangerous bleaching agents as some of the ones available today online by unapproved companies and in ethnic shops, the skin-lightening products formulated these days by highly reputable companies such as The Laser Treatment Clinic are far more tightly regulated and formulated to work in a safe and efficient way.

To ensure that you are only using skin-lightening creams that will be safe for your skin, choose a professional skincare product like the Ultra Light Derma White Cream by ZAHEDA from The Laser Treatment Clinic. The cream has been scientifically formulated, allowing users to safely lighten their skin at home with the power of naturally-derived actives rather than harsh chemicals. Unlike dangerous skin bleaching products, this kind of lightening cream will target hyperpigmentation to help you to maintain a bright and even complexion and will not alter your actual skin tone.

The Ultra Light Derma White Cream achieves this brightening effect thanks to ingredients which inhibit the body’s melanin production. In doing so, over time hyperpigmented areas gradually fade – this is also why it is the perfect product to use as part of your hyperpigmentation aftercare, as it will boost and prolong the effects of your in-clinic treatments. For best results use in combination with ZAHEDA Ultra Smooth Sea Polish.

Hyperpigmentation Treatments

If you find yourself struggling with your hyperpigmentation issues, why not get in touch with our skin experts to book a free consultation and find out how The Laser Treatment Clinic can help you improve any existing hyperpigmentation.

Like most issues, hyperpigmentation is far easier to prevent than it is to treat. While it isn’t a harmful skin condition, hyperpigmentation is something most individuals wish to avoid due to it often looking unsightly.

Thankfully there are some simple steps you can take guard yourself against the most common factors of hyperpigmentation, and help at hand if you already do have some discolouration. This skin concern is especially common in darker skin types.

Use Sunscreen Every Day

Not only is sun damage one of the most common signs of ageing, but it is also one of the key causes of hyperpigmentation. UV rays can cause age spots and freckles to develop, while also making existing areas of hyperpigmentation darker. Although most signs of sun damage to the skin are harmless, they are highly visible and can make a person look much older than they actually are.

To avoid hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure, you should strive to wear a suitable sunscreen every day, even if the forecast is overcast as UV light can pass through the clouds.

Invest in the Right Skincare

Individuals who suffer from a skin condition such as dermatitis, acne, or eczema are susceptible to developing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. In these cases, irregular pigmentation forms as part of the body’s natural healing response to trauma. Unfortunately, the same response that is vital for healing the original skin issue can trigger an overproduction of melanin, causing hyperpigmentation if not kept in check.

The best way to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from occurring in the first place is to invest in the right skincare products, especially if you suffer from one of the common skin conditions which can cause it, or are currently having professional skin treatments. Gentle products made with soothing ingredients such as marine and plant based and that do not include synthetics such as perfume and colour are perfect for soothing irritated and inflamed skin, addressing the underlying issues that usually trigger excess melanin production.

What to Do if You Already Have Hyperpigmentation

No matter how careful you are, you can still develop hyperpigmentation as you can’t combat every single environmental and hormonal factor which can trigger it. In these cases, your best option is to seek professional guidance on how best to treat your skin.

Here at The Laser Treatment Clinic, we’re experts on treating hyperpigmentation. With decades of experience, we can treat sensitive and dark skin types, and our friendly team will be happy to talk you through your options. To find out more, book a free consultation today.

Dealing with hyperpigmentation can often be a struggle for people. Regardless of what has caused it, finding a long-term solution to this skin issue often comes in the form of seeking professional help. Not only do professional treatments offer the best results, but they also ensure that you do not end up doing more harm than good, as certain skin lightening products can actually make any existing pigmentation worse if not used correctly.

Treating Hyperpigmentation on Different Skin Tones

While the causes of hyperpigmentation are universal across all skin tones and types, it’s treatment is far from a one-size-fits-all option. Our expert team will advise you on which course of treatment will be most effective for you by carefully analysing your skin type and taking its tone into consideration. This is a crucial step because those with darker Asian or black African skin require more gentle treatment options to minimise the likelihood of causing any further pigmentation. While this usually means a longer treatment course, the end result will be worth it in the long run!

Treating Facial Pigmentation

It’s no surprise that clients most often come to us seeking treatment for facial pigmentation. This is because the face is the most difficult area to try and mask this issue on as it can’t be covered by clothing in the same way as other parts of your body, with make-up as your only cover option. Our team of skin experts has decades of experience in treating facial hyperpigmentation so you can rest assured that you will receive the highest level of care when visiting our clinic.

Our In-Clinic Treatments

Our approach to treating hyperpigmentation is to use a combination of multiple treatment types to deliver the best results. We use our gentle natural Derma White Treatment to encourage skin turnover and gently resurface the top layer of skin to tackle superficial pigmentation combined with the ZAHEDA Ultra Light Derma White serum. This is usually combined with Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) which workers on the middle layers of the skin. This method of treatment uses microneedles to break up pigment in the skin, lightening hyperpigmented areas both on the face and the body. CIT is particularly useful for those with Asian or black African skin as it can be used to treat PIH and any associated scar tissue too – both of which are far more common in darker skin tones.

Ready to start your own skin journey and be free of hyperpigmentation? Book your free consultation today!

Skincare Tips for Black Skin

Wear Sunscreen Every Day

One of the most common myths surrounding black skin is that it does not burn and so those with darker skin do not have to worry about wearing sunscreen. This is, of course, simply not true and you should be wearing sunscreen no matter what skin tone or type you have.

While it is true that those with dark skin are far less likely to get skin cancer from sun exposure – which is likely where this dangerous myth originated from – they are also less likely to have a good outcome if they do develop skin cancer. Furthermore, individuals with Asian or black African skin are also more likely to develop hyperpigmentation from sun exposure, so it is essential that they properly shield themselves.

Treat Acne As Early As Possible

Acne on black skin can be problematic, to say the least. If not treated early on it can lead to the formation of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), which can often develop as part of the healing process. By treating active acne, you can often prevent PIH from forming in the first place, saving you the time and effort required to treat it.

Deal With Any Hyperpigmentation

A common skin issue which can affect anyone, regardless of their skin tone, hyperpigmentation occurs when your body produces too much melanin, its natural pigment. Despite how common it is, hyperpigmentation affects those with Asian or black African skin far more commonly than it does any other skin type. While many people choose to simply live with it, seeking professional treatments for your hyperpigmentation forms an important part of your skincare as it wil help you achieve a more even skin tone.

If you are looking to treat your hyperpigmentation at home, we recommend using the Zaheda skincare range. Products like the Ultra Smooth Sea Polish and Ultra Light Derma White lightening cream, contain powerful natural actives which have been proven to effectively (and gently) help you treat pigmentation issues at home.

Of course, over-the-counter products can only do so much, which is why it is recommended that you also use professional treatments, using your homecare routine to support their results. Our skin experts have decades of experience in treating various concerns on Asian and black African skin and will be able to advise you on the best course of treatment. To find out more, get in touch with us, or book your free consultation today.

Hyperpigmentation, despite being completely harmless, is a skin condition that affects millions of individuals, often affecting their self-esteem. Thankfully, there are a number of different ingredients that can help tackle the look of these marks, allowing you to manage your pigmentation issues by using the right skincare.

While no over-the-counter product can match the results you would see from our in-clinic pigmentation treatments, the ever so popular Derma White Treatment or even our Laser Pigmentation Treatments, the following ingredients can help to lighten existing hyperpigmentation issues when correctly used as part of your existing skincare routine. Of course, you should beware of hydroquinone and similar illegal lightening creams as these can actually make hyperpigmentation worse.

Alpine Herbs

Alpine herb blends, like the ones found in the Zaheda skincare range Ultra Smooth Sea Polish and Ultra Light Derma White lightening cream, have been proven to gently yet effectively tackle pigmentation issues in the results of a research programme. Ideal for anyone looking to keep their skincare as natural or organic as possible. Alpine herbs not only slow down the synthesis of melanin and fade existing discolouration but they also brighten and even skin tone as well as reduce the colour intensity of age spots. They also hydrate the skin, making it a gentle but effective active ingredient to look out for.

In in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo tests this blend of Alpine herbs has an effect on the tyrosinase-inhibiting mechanism involved in melanin biosynthesis. The main functions being; Skin-lightening activity, Reduction of age spots colour intensity and Evening of skin tone.

Aloe Vera

Well-known for its soothing properties, aloe vera contains a natural compound – aloin – known for its skin lightening properties. This naturally occurring depigmentation agent gently lightens skin, making aloe vera ideal for treating post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, in combination with aloe vera’s soothing properties.

Rosehip Seed Oil

Derived from the seeds of rosehip fruit, this nutrient-rich oil works wonders on both scarring and hyperpigmentation. Tackling dark spots while also moisturising dry skin, this multitasking ingredient is also wonderful for healing and protecting against future damage as it helps to fight the free radicals which are responsible for hyperpigmentation in the first place, while also improving cell turnover.

Seaweed Extract

Made famous by its inclusion in prestigious Creme de la Mer skincare line, seaweed is full of powerful natural actives, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants – all of which make it a real hero ingredient when it comes to skincare. Like rosehip seed oil, seaweed extract also protects cells against free radical damage, while also improving the look of existing hyperpigmentation. If you’re someone who suffers from hyperpigmentation due to acne, then consider this your new hero product.
