Is acne scarring the bane of your existence?

Unfortunately, acne does not just cause red and painful spots to appear on your skin; it can also leave behind permanent reminders that are seemingly etched into your skin forever. While the spots themselves tend to have a life cycle of about two weeks, the scars are often here to stay.

When they first form, they tend to be red and rather noticeable, and need to be hidden under layers of concealer. Although this redness usually diminishes over a period of time, the typical ‘pocked’ appearance of the skin does not change without a bit of help.

The depressed appearance of acne scars can make them difficult to camouflage, and can have a terribly detrimental effect on a person’s confidence in their own appearance. The American Idol star Adam Lambert has famously complained about the effect of his own acne, saying that his skin is ‘a mess’ and that it is ‘the bane’ of his life.

There is a solution, however, that can improve the appearance of acne scarring, and dispense with the need to spend inordinate amounts of time applying makeup. Microdermabrasion and laser treatments can improve the skin’s texture as well as reducing the redness typical of new scars.
