Our team at The Laser Treatment Clinic has over 25 years of experience in treating various skin marks and blemishes, including Birthmarks.
What are Birthmarks?
Birthmarks are benign skin irregularities which appear at birth or in the following few weeks, hence the name. These colours marks can be present in two different types: vascular birthmarks and pigmented birthmarks. Not only do the two types vary in colouration, but they also have different causes with vascular birthmarks occurring as a result of abnormal blood vessels and pigmented birthmarks being caused by a clustering of pigment cells.
Common Types of Birthmarks:
- Strawberry Marks
- Port-Wine Stains
- Hemangioma
- Salmon Patches
- Cafe Au Lait Spots
Removing Birthmarks:
We specialise in the laser removal of the most common birthmark types using Nd:Yag Laser and Intense Pulsed Light Skin Rejuvenation.
We can treat flat birthmarks as long as they are either strawberry, red, pink, or brown in colour. Here at The Laser Treatment Clinic, we also treat vascular skin markings.
While we treat light and olive to medium brown skin types, we do not treat birthmarks on darker skin types and it can take between 6 to 12 treatments minimum to see results. The results are individual due to the skin and the birthmark.
Our laser birthmark removal treatments include the following:
- Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) for vascular birthmarks
- Nd:YAG Laser Treatment for pigmented birthmarks
We recommend using the following homecare products to complement your in-clinic treatments, and maintain your results:
- Marine Boost Super Serum (skin revitalising serum/booster)
- SPF Sun Protection
