Our Harley Street clinic treats a wide range of pigmentation issues, using our 25 years of expertise in dealing with different skin disorders.
What is Pigmentation?
Your skin is naturally pigmented, giving it its unique colour based on the genes you’ve inherited, but sometimes you can develop excessive pigmentation in specific areas due to sun exposure or as a result of trauma to the skin. This is commonly known as hyperpigmentation, and can lead to an uneven skin which often has a negative effect on an individual’s confidence.
Irregular pigmentation presents itself in a number of different ways. Most commonly it will appear as freckles, sun spots, melasma, or as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Common Causes of Pigmentation:
- Hormonal issues
- Medication
- Acne spots
- Extended UV exposure
- Ingrown Hairs
- A Reaction to Inflammation
- Psoriasis
- Eczema
- Dermatitis
- Hydroquinone & harsh skin lightening products
Treating Pigmentation
We can treat both new and old pigmentation, including pigmented scars, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and melasma.
The experienced professional team at our clinic can also treat pigmentation concerns commonly associated with darker skin types such as Asian, African and Arab skin types for the uneven look of hands, feet, underarms, lips, intimate areas and most other areas of the face and body. We also offer extensive advice and treatments for darker skin tones. Click to find out more: Asian and black African skin tones.
The treatments can range from non-invasive laser and non-laser treatments. Your consultant will confirm the suitable treatment after examination of your skin.
