Laser Skin Rejuvenation Treatments

As you get older, your skin starts to lose its firmness and elasticity, and you may start developing rough patches and dry spots. This is all part of the natural ageing process which is caused by the slowdown of cell regeneration and reduced collagen levels. When you’re young your skin cells regenerate every 28 days or so, but as you age this more than doubles to around 60 days.

While there isn’t much you can do about slowing down the ageing process, you can improve the look and feel of your skin by encouraging cell regeneration and replacing lost collagen. A number of laser skin treatments have been developed that help rejuvenate your skin, leaving you with a blemish-free complexion, free from wrinkles, lines and sunspots.

The different types of laser resurfacing

Laser skin rejuvenation treatments utilise an intense beam of light to treat a range of common skin conditions including; wrinkles, acne, sunspots, stretch marks, age spots, loose skin and hyper pigmentation.

There are essentially three types of laser treatment available…

Ablative lasers

This is an invasive treatment which uses a very powerful laser to burn away the top layer of the dermis. This encourages new fresher skin to grow in its place leaving you with a fresh clean complexion. However, patients should be aware that this treatment may leave you with red skin immediately after the treatment as before the new skin has grown in its place.

Non-ablative lasers

This is a non-invasive treatment which does not break the skin’s surface. A laser is applied to the skin’s outer layer which heats up the inner dermis layer to encourage the growth of collagen. This helps to restore the skin’s natural firmness and elasticity leaving you with fresh looking skin.

Fractional lasers

This is an invasive treatment similar to ablative lasers, that uses a powerful laser to burn away the top layer of skin. They differ from ablative lasers because they are typically used to target very small specific areas. This leaves the surrounding area untouched, helping to reduce recovery time.

We will discuss all relevant procedures with you during your initial consultation to help you make an informed decision about which procedure is best for you. Essentially non-ablative and fractional treatments require little downtime and can often be carried out during a lunch break, but they may take longer to achieve noticeable results than using invasive ablative treatments.

For ultimate results we recommend combining your laser treatment with our cutting-edge non-invasive Sea Collagen infusion, which provides a powerful rejuvenation to your skin, giving you a youthful glow to be proud of.
