New treatment for the symptoms of rosacea

The symptoms of rosacea can be difficult to live with: persistent flushing and redness of the skin, acne-like spots and thread veins can all wreak havoc with our complexions. And yet, there is another symptom of rosacea that can be even harder to disguise.

Rhinophyma describes the thickening of the skin on the nose, and in severe cases, it can make the nose bulbous and unsightly. The skin can become lumpy and reddened and is often mistaken for being the result of a drinking problem which can be embarrassing, to say the least.

New rosacea treatment is being trialled, however, that could offer hope to those affected by the skin condition in this way. Low-energy radio frequency beams are applied to the affected area in order to ‘dissolve’ the excess layers of skin, reducing the size of the nose until it approaches its original dimensions.

This, combined with other light treatments such as Intense Pulsed Light Therapy can provide real improvement and an enormous relief to those who are struggling to cope with the effects that rosacea can have on their skin.
