Cleansing, toning and moisturising cannot, therefore, be left at home with your slippers while you head to foreign climes. Take your usual products with you if they do not cause any irritation or allergic reactions, as you do not want to experiment with new products while away from home.
If you are currently using topical acne treatments or taking oral treatment, then you should read the instructions carefully before you go. Some need to be kept in the fridge or they become inert and ineffective; others will make your skin photosensitive, in which case, using a sun block is non-negotiable.
So, if you usually aim to change a few change shades darker when you hit the beach, try an experiment this year: there is more to life and foreign countries than a tan, which ultimately can leave you with prematurely aged skin, if not worse. Acne-prone skin tends to be oily, but this does not protect it from moisture loss and damage.
Make it your goal this year to put your skin’s safety first: be sensible and err on the side of caution when it comes to going out in direct, strong sunlight. If your holiday provokes a breakout despite your best efforts, then deal with it quickly and book some laser acne treatments when you arrive home.
