If you feel that your skin is losing its beauty and you have started to get wrinkles or age spots, then laser resurfacing can rejuvenate your skin. Laser skin resurfacing exfoliates the top layers of the skin which can reduce wrinkles and give a tightening effect. However, it is important that you understand certain aspects of the procedure before undergoing it.

What is laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a laser skin treatment which involves the application of one or more different types of lasers on your skin surface. Each type of laser is designed to target a particular layer of skin.

The carbon dioxide laser is the most powerful laser. It is used in the treatment of prominent wrinkles. The Erbium: YAG laser is used to treat superficial wrinkles. The strength of this laser lies in its accuracy at treating specific tissues. This laser is safe and recovery time after the laser application is shorter compared to other lasers.

The third type of laser is the Nlite laser. This laser utilises the projected energy to encourage the body’s own collagen to grow which naturally rejuvenates the skin. This process is referred to as photorejuvenation. It is a gentle procedure and hence can be applied to sensitive zones like the eyes and the neck. This is a slower option but is regarded as the safest.

You must consult a qualified doctor and understand exactly how the treatment works before undertaking any type of laser treatment.
