At last, a permanent solution for ingrown hairs

Ingrown hairs occur when a new hair either curls back on itself before it can even leave the hair follicle, or ends up growing sideways underneath the surface of the skin. As well as being rather unsightly, ingrown hairs can also end up causing inflamed and sore lumps on the skin if they become infected, and can leave scars behind them.

Some people seem to be prone to ingrown hairs, although shaving and waxing can also increase the likelihood of their appearing. If a hair is broken beneath the surface of the skin rather than being pulled from the root, it is more likely to grow stuck under the skin. As shaving and waxing need to be repeated frequently to maintain hair-free skin, the skin can end up being marked and irritated.

I.P.L., on the other hand, offers a way to permanently reduce hair growth, effectively eliminating the risk of painful ingrown hairs. The intense pulses of light destroy the hair follicle as the energy travels along the hair shaft to the root. When the hair falls out, it cannot be replaced, so the skin is left smooth, clear and hair-free – all the time.
