Cover up this summer

You don’t need an expensive skin analysis machine to tell you that if you expose your skin to the damaging rays of the sun without adequate protection, it will age prematurely. The sun may give you a lovely summer tan, but it also dehydrates your skin and causes fine lines and wrinkles to appear. Over time, it can also affect the pigmentation of your skin and create uneven patches of colour.

These tell-tale signs of ageing can be managed by your skincare products, but they cannot be reversed, and damage accumulated over the years can end up leaving you looking older than your years. Of course, the best course of action is to make sure your skin is protected.

This means wearing a sunblock on exposed areas of skin and donning a sunhat and sunglasses before going into strong sunlight. Your hat needs to cast shade over your face and your sunglasses should be large enough to prevent the sun from reaching the eye area. You also need to make sure your sunglasses lenses are CE and able to block UV rays.

This may seem like a drag for many this summer, and yet it can prevent dry, lined, blotchy skin and the need for sun damage and photo rejuvenation treatment.
