Dealing with acne scarring

If you are unlucky enough to be stuck with acne scars, it is likely that you will have tried all sorts of ways to get rid of them. However, nothing has so far proven to be quite as effective as laser treatment.

Acne scars are caused by severe acne inflammation within the skin, which then forms a scar as the wound attempts to heal itself and there is too much collagen in one spot. There are a few different types of acne scars, from ice-pick scars (the most common) to box car scars (angular scars, often caused by chicken pox), rolling scars (these have a wave-like appearance) and hypertrophic scars (thickened scars).

There are many other ways scarring can be caused apart from acne. These include:

• Surgical incisions
• Wounds
• Burns
• Chicken pox
• Vaccinations
• Body piercing
• Blisters

A lot of people who have scarring because of any of these types of skin trauma often suffer from low self-esteem, especially if their scars are in a very visible place. There never used to be an effective treatment available to get rid of acne scarring, but now that laser treatment is an affordable and convenient option, there’s no reason to suffer from acne scarring.
