How does Advanced Intense Pulsed Light technology work? Pt.2

Posted on 18 Jul, 2011

Advanced Intense Pulsed Light technology works by targeting the melanin in the hair follicles and destroying the cells responsible for the growth of hair. It is fast, easy and convenient, and it can make a huge difference to your self-esteem if you choose to get it done.

In pt.1 of this guide, we looked at how Advanced Intense Pulsed Light technology worked, and how it is able to get rid of hair and stop it growing back. Now we will take a look at what the laser hair removal experience is like for the recipient.

Before your treatment, you will be asked questions about your health and given some basic tests to make sure the treatment is suitable for your skin. The treatment is always more effective on skin that hasn’t been unnaturally tanned (i.e. using sunbeds or tanning products)

During the treatment, a cold gel will be used on the area of skin to be treated and pulses of laser light will then be applied. The procedure should not hurt, but you can expect to feel a tingling sensation or a feeling akin to a rubber band snapping against you. However, the treatment is very fast and in some cases (i.e. small facial areas), it can take less than a minute to complete.

After the treatment, you can expect the hairs to simply fall out on their own over a period of 1 – 3 weeks.
