IPL and acne

Wouldn’t it be great to have a miracle cure for acne? Active acne can be a terrible affliction, appearing during the teen years or later; it can prove to be difficult to eradicate and can have serious consequences for a sufferer’s self-esteem. Depression has been linked to active acne, demonstrating just how devastating it can be for the individual.

Unfortunately, there is no miracle cure; people respond differently to treatments, which may be effective for some and not for others. Some forms of treatment can have potentially serious side effects which require monitoring for the duration of the treatment and can be difficult to put up with.

IPL offers a non-invasive and highly targeted approach. There are no pills to take, whether antibiotic or hormonal, and the skin is treated safely and gently. IPL works by applying pulses of intense light to the affected skin. The light eliminates the bacteria that can proliferate on the skin and ultimately cause the infection and inflammation of blocked pores.

The light has an additional beneficial effect: it can stimulate the body’s natural healing response, encouraging the skin to repair any damage already sustained. The result is clearer skin and an improved skin tone.
