Katy Perry’s struggle with acne

The pop star Katy Perry has famously struggled to manage her acne since launching her career a few years ago. She claims she developed acne at the beginning of her career, which was an intensely stressful period. She has also been reported as saying that her acne scars make her feel insecure, and as a result, she often resorts to piling on the make up in an attempt to camouflage the problem.

Unfortunately, acne is a skin condition that affects many people, and those who suffer from it usually react in a similar way. As acne tends to flare up on the face, it is visible to others and can have a negative impact on self-confidence.

Although make up can help to camouflage spots to a certain extent, it does not deal with the root of the problem and certain products could even exacerbate the condition. Acne forms when the pores become blocked with dead skin cells and sebum, and so a daily skin care routine using specialist skincare products is absolutely essential.

A combination of microdermabrasion and laser therapy can also provide effective acne treatment. Microdermabrasion improves and reduces the appearance of acne scars, while the laser eliminates the bacteria present on the skin, and encourages the growth of healthy new skin cells.
