With constant developments in dermatology, you can now treat acne by using laser technology. Laser treatments have been popular for several years now, and are also fantastic for hair removal, wrinkle removal, scar removal and stretch mark removal.

There are two main types of laser acne treatment- one concentrates on removing acne whereas the other helps to fade acne scars.

Removing acne – In removing acne, a single beam of light is utilised, in order to kill the germs that cause acne. The laser targets the glands which secrete oil, and this causes the glands to shrink. The oil in the glands is useful for nourishing the skin, but too much can promote spots and acne. When the oil glands are shrunk, this helps to decrease the frequency of acne outbreaks.

Treating acne scars – The second kind of acne treatment is also known as laser skin resurfacing. During this procedure, the laser is directed onto the scars which are left behind by acne. This process uses a laser to burn the upper layers of the skin and help to promote fresh skin growth.

If you suffer from severe acne scarring, then laser treatment has been proved to be the best way of minimising them.

However, before undergoing laser acne treatment you should consult your doctor, to make sure that it is the right choice for you.
