Laser treatment for acne scarring

It is a common misconception that only teenagers suffer from acne. Acne can cause problems at any time of life and in the worst instances can leave a person with permanent scarring.

Acne scars can be treated however with the help of laser acne treatment. And in some cases only just a few sessions are need to obtain satisfactory results. Most laser treatments for this type of condition use a combination of microdermabrasion, laser therapy and ultrasound. These treatments act as a form of deep skin exfoliation and encourage new skin to form and grow, replacing the previously scar damaged skin with new tissue.

A hand held device is usually passed over the affected area abrading the area to be treated, the laser treatment follows and this course of treatment is repeated over a number of sessions usually a number of weeks apart.

Following the treatment it’s usual to notice small spots of blood, which may scab, and usually take a week or so to heal depending on the depth of treatment and the length of the treatment. Most patients notice a difference after just a couple of sessions, but the number of sessions needed to reach an optimum result will always be decided by your practitioner.
