Laser treatments for black skin

In its infancy, laser treatment wasn’t able to treat people with darker skin effectively or safely. The main problem was that the pathophysiology of ethnic and darker skin is very different to white Caucasian skin, and the same laser treatments can’t be used for everyone.

Now that skincare and laser treatment specialists have a better understanding, they have been able to develop different lasers and different laser settings which will work effectively and safely on darker skin. A number of laser treatment London clinics have started to specialise in the treatment of black skin. Laser treatments for black skin

The following laser treatments for black and ethnic skin are now available:

Pigmentation scar treatment. Pigmentation scars and lesions are caused by increased production of melanin, which happens when dark skin has been damaged on the surface. This damage can be caused by grazes, cuts and scratches, as well as mosquito bites, acne, and sun damage. Treatment involves using lasers and microdermabrasion to remove pigmented superficial skin layers and stimulating the production of collagen to help the healing and rejuvenation process.

Laser hair removal. Lasers heat up and destroy the hair follicles to prevent hair re-growth.
