Acne is one of the most common skin complaints the world over, and whilst it is most often seen in adolescents it is not uncommon adults to suffer from it too. Acne can lead to negative self-esteem, but one of the best ways to get rid of it is through laser treatment.

If you are planning to undergo laser acne treatment then you need to know more about acne and the procedure.

How acne forms on the skin

Acne is caused by the over working of sebaceous oil glands which are positioned around hair follicles. In this event a corneous plug is formed in the opening of the hair follicles. Due to this, the oil is accumulated at one area which causes the enlargement of the glands. The pressure of this oil causes an inflammatory reaction in the area around the sebaceous glands.

At the same time, biochemical changes also occur in the oil which results in the reproduction of bacteria leading to an inflammatory reaction in the follicle area and causing acne.

Smoothbeam is one of the lasers commonly used to treat acne, as this laser works very quickly. This laser also helps in preventing sebaceous glands from further inflammation and treats old acne scars. During the treatment, the laser directly hits the area under the topmost layer of skin. This procedure helps in eliminating the overworked sebaceous oil glands, quickly putting an end to the acne problem.
