Managing acne-prone skin

When you have acne-prone skin, it can be tempting to try everything you can get your hands on in order to beat the blemishes. There are some things you should avoid, however, if you don’t want to further irritate your sensitive skin.

Cleansers aimed at spotty teenagers are often far too harsh for acne-prone skin; they tend to strip the skin of its natural oils and stimulate sebum production, which is exactly what you don’t want. Opt for a gentle cleanser that can do the job without stripping the skin of moisture: take a look at the skincare products proposed by The Laser Treatment Clinic for more information.

Spots are often accompanied by excess sebum production, leaving skin oily and shiny. This may dissuade acne sufferers from moisturising properly, and yet this too is essential for the health of your skin. Make sure the moisturiser is water-based rather than oil-based.

IPL can also help to control breakouts of active acne by eliminating the bacteria responsible for inflammation and infection and the formation of pustules and spots. The removal of the bacteria then reduces the likelihood of new spots and stimulates the healing process.
