One good reason not to get a tattoo for love

Twilight actress Nikki Reed provides a good example of why it is always a risky business getting a tattoo of your other half’s name inked onto your body… While living in Russia during her younger days, the actress met a ballet dancer and decided to have his name tattooed across her wrist.

Now married to someone with a distinctly English name, she has decided that the time has come to have the tattoo removed in order to spare her husband’s feelings. She describes the gesture as ‘removing’ that period of her life.

Unfortunately, failed relationships are a common reason for wanting to get rid of a tattoo. While people may feel initially that their couple will last forever, breakups are common, and tattoos can be difficult to get rid of.

The only really effective way to erase the past and make the tattoo fade away is to undertake a laser tattoo removal treatment. The laser acts by breaking down the pigment particles in the ink that are just too big for the body to remove itself.

Over the course of the treatment, the tattoo gradually fades from view, without causing damage to the surrounding skin tissue.
