Pigmentation treatment

The Laser Treatment Clinic offers two types of treatment for improving the appearance of pigmented skin:

Intense Pulsed Light Treatment
IPL pigmentation treatment works by targeting the excess melanin contained in the skin. When applied to the affected areas in very short bursts, the light is absorbed by the darker pigmentation and is heated up. The skin is exposed to the light for a tiny length of time, meaning it does not harm the surrounding tissues.

As the pigmentation heats up, it begins to disintegrate, allowing the body to remove it naturally. The darker patches of skin begin to fade as a result and become less noticeable.

Microdermabrasion and laser treatment
Microdermabrasion is a form of deep exfoliation, which removes the damaged superficial layers of skin. It is a highly controlled procedure which applies medical grade crystals to the skin under pressure. This removes the skin cells in a gentle and uniform way, and encourages the skin to renew itself.

The laser treatment is then used to stimulate the production of new skin cells and collagen.

Pigmentation treatment can help to reduce the appearance of discoloured patches on the skin, as well as improving the skin’s texture.
