Regretting your rebellious tattoo? Consider laser treatment

Posted on 30 Jul, 2011

Many people get tattoos in their teenage years, mainly because they want to rebel against something or express how they feel. A lot of people who do this are happy living with their tattoos for the rest of their lives, whilst many others have second thoughts.

The decision to get a tattoo in a reckless moment or as a hormone-charged adolescent is not always a wise one, and many people end up with tattoos they are embarrassed about as an adult. Whether offensive, poorly done or merely childish, having a tattoo you regret can be a bit of a nightmare. It can even affect your career prospects, especially if your tattoo is in a really visible place.

However, now that laser treatment has come along, tattoos are no longer considered to be permanent. Applying a laser gently to the tattooed skin will break down the ink into minuscule particles which the body’s immune system is able to get rid of. This results in a gradual fading of the tattoo over a number of weeks until after a few treatments it is gone completely.

Obviously, the best way to avoid regretting a tattoo is not to have one done. However, it is reassuring to know that you can always turn to laser tattoo removal treatment if you start having second thoughts.
