Scar treatment

Scars do not pose any danger to physical health or well-being, although they can be considered unsightly and can be very uncomfortable to live with. Scarring is permanent, and will not improve without intervention of some kind.

At The Laser Treatment Clinic, we use a combination of treatments in order to achieve the maximum improvement to the appearance of the skin:

• Microdermabrasion gently and uniformly removes the upper layers of the skin, making it particularly effective for use on raised scars. It is non-invasive, and offers great results when used on superficial scars. The specialised equipment removes the damaged cells without causing any damage itself, and also stimulates the process of skin renewal.

• Laser treatment is applied after the microdermabrasion. The heat it creates in the skin stimulates the production of collagen, which is essential for the production of healthy and plump new skin.
Results are accumulative, and depend on the depth, age and extent of the scarring, but this combined approach to treatment can provide effective treatment that not only visibly improves the surface of the skin but also reduces any down-time following the procedure.
