Stopping sun-damage in its tracks

Posted on 26 Apr, 2012

We all know that the sun is Enemy N°1 for our skin. Although that tan may make you look and feel great for the couple of weeks that follow your holiday, the damage sustained could have consequences that make themselves felt (and seen) for much, much longer.

Of course, the first approach should always be one of prevention. An effective sunblock will limit the damage caused by the sun’s harmful UV rays: wrinkles, fine lines, pigmented spots, broken veins etc. It will also prevent existing patches of hyper-pigmented skin from darkening.

But what should you do if the damage is already apparent and it is making you look older than you should?
The Laser Treatment Clinic offers two types of treatment that can help you to rejuvenate your complexion and reduce the signs of premature ageing:

• The photo-rejuvenation treatment uses Intense Pulsed Light to target hyperpigmented patches of skin as well as thread veins. As the light causes the lesions to heat up, the chromophores and dilated blood vessels collapse and disintegrate. Collagen production is stimulated to encourage skin renewal and elasticity.

• Microdermabrasion and laser therapy involves mechanically removing the damaged superficial layers of skin and kick-starting the renewal of the epidermis.
