Acne is a common problem affecting millions of people around the world. Though it is mostly seen in teenagers, people of all ages may suffer from it at some point in their lives. Acne can develop on different parts of the body but acne on the face is the most troublesome. Acne on the face can also lead to scars. People may try different treatments to cure acne. However, it is important to first know what causes it. Some common causes of acne are given below.

Oily skin

If you have oily skin, you have a greater chance of developing acne. Oil in the skin is produced by sebaceous glands which are responsible for maintaining the moisture content in the skin. Though you can try different cleaners and creams to reduce the oil content in the skin, none of them guarantee a cure. You may be advised to wash your face regularly. However, washing your face frequently can actually lead to more oil production in the skin.

Heredity

Heredity is one of the major causes of acne breakouts. If your parents have suffered from acne in their adolescence, chances are high that you too will get it. However, it is not a certainty.

Treating acne with lasers

Laser acne treatment has been in use for a long time now. With laser treatment, acne can be treated permanently. Laser acne treatment is slowly replacing all other conventional methods of acne removal as it is a safe and painless procedure that guarantees overall reduction in acne.
