When the tattoo outlasts the relationship

It would seem that Russell Brand is anxious to remove the traces of his failed marriage to Katy Perry. When the former couple got engaged in 2010, they had matching tattoos in Sanskrit inked onto their arms.

The tattoos reportedly read ‘Go with the flow’, but now that Russell and Katy have confirmed their divorce, it would seem that Russell wants to move on. He was spotted at a tattoo removal clinic in Hollywood recently, where he had the offending ink removed.

The break-up of a couple is a common reason for tattoo regret. Many people nowadays decide to use tattoos to display their love or commitment to their partner, but the tattoo often outlives the relationship.

In this case, the tattoo is likely to become a source of embarrassment, regret or sadness. If this is the case, there are two options: a cover-up tattoo or tattoo removal. If the original tattoo is small or easy to cover, then it may be possible to hide it behind another, larger tattoo.

If this is not an option, then tattoo removal may be the best route. Laser tattoo removal is by no means a pain-free or instant solution, but it is the most effective way to remove an unwanted tattoo.
