How IPL can give you the even complexion you long for

Patches of hyperpigmented skin are a common occurrence, but that does not make them any easier to live with! They can be caused by various factors, including exposure to sunlight, hormonal changes and age. As the skin ages, it is less able to regulate the production of melanin, resulting in uneven skin tone.

Although they can appear anywhere, these pigmented patches have the annoying tendency to appear on skin that is most exposed: namely, the hands and the face. This can make the skin appear prematurely aged and can be difficult to conceal effectively using just makeup.

IPL can offer real relief from this problem by selectively targeting the problem areas of skin. The intense pulses of light are applied to the affected skin, where the concentrated areas of pigment absorb the energy and begin to heat up.

The heat causes the pigment particles to begin to break down into tiny fragments that the scavenger cells in the body are able to remove naturally. Over the course of the treatment, the patches begin to fade away, and the skin tone becomes evener.
