Laser treatment for pigmentation problems

Posted on 12 Oct, 2010

The desire for perfect skin has grown over the past few years. Nobody likes blemishes. Acne and spots occur for various reasons such as because of a hormonal imbalance or the inability of the body to get rid of dead skin cells. It should be noted that acne and pimples have no relevance to the hygiene of an individual.

Another factor that hampers the self confidence of an individual is the appearance of two or more different shades on the skin. It is possible for this to happen, especially during the summer months as ultra violet rays trigger melanocytes in the body. This causes darkening of the skin and eventually results in pigmentation problems. There are different types of pigmentation problems and treatments for it.

Different types of pigmentation

There are two basic types of pigmentation – active and passive. These are caused due to different factors. For instance, inflammatory pigmentation is usually caused due to strain or injury to the skin. Fitzpatrick skin types of 4, 5 and 6 are chiefly prone to this type of pigmentation that is associated with post scarring. All three skin types have different pigmentation and for this reason, pigmentation treatment differs for each one.

Significance of correct pigmentation

Pigmentation issues can become complicated. This makes it important for a skin specialist to have in-depth knowledge about the skin and then look for a suitable pigmentation treatment. One of the most effective pigmentation treatments is laser treatment. Over the past few years, this treatment has become more advanced.

It should be noted that laser treatment is the first step towards perfect skin. You have to ensure that you constantly take care of your skin by using sunscreen and taking other precautionary measures.
